The Prophet (or 'Abul Qasim) said, "While a man was walking, clad in a two-piece garment and proud of himself with his hair well-combed, suddenly Allah made him sink into the earth and he will go on sinking into it till the Day of Resurrection.

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ أَوْ قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَمْشِي فِي حُلَّةٍ تُعْجِبُهُ نَفْسُهُ مُرَجِّلٌ جُمَّتَهُ إِذْ خَسَفَ اللَّهُ بِهِ فَهْوَ يَتَجَلَّلُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

There was a person who walked with pride because of his (fine) mantles and well pleased with his personality. Allah made him sink in the earth and he would go on sinking in that until the Day of Resurrection.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَتَبَخْتَرُ يَمْشِي فِي بُرْدَيْهِ قَدْ أَعْجَبَتْهُ نَفْسُهُ فَخَسَفَ اللَّهُ بِهِ الأَرْضَ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِيهَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While a man was proudly displaying his attire, amazed by his turban, Allah caused the earth to swallow him and he continues to sink in it or he said, he will keep sinking in it until the Day of Resurrection."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَا رَجُلٌ يَتَبَخْتَرُ فِي حُلَّةٍ مُعْجَبٌ بِجُمَّتِهِ قَدْ أَسْبَلَ إِزَارَهُ إِذْ خَسَفَ اللهُ بِهِ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ أَوْ قَالَ يَهْوِي فِيهَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

[AI] Narrated by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , Hajjaj said in his narration that he heard Abu Hurairah say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ or Abu Al-Qasim said, "While a man was walking and showing off his adornments, he was swallowed by the earth and will continue to be swallowed until the Day of Resurrection." And Hajjaj said, "When Allah made him disappear..."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَوْ قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَمْشِي وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ مُرَجِّلًا جُمَّتَهُ تُعْجِبُهُ نَفْسُهُ إِذْ خُسِفَ بِهِ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَقَالَ حَجَّاجٌ إِذْ خَسَفَ اللهُ بِهِ
