[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ heard and said, "One should not be lashed more than ten times except in a punishment that is within the bounds of Allah." Abu Abdur-Rahman Abdullah bin Jabir said, "There is no problem with that."

سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يُجْلَدُ فَوْقَ عَشْرِ جَلْدَاتٍ إِلَّا فِي حَدٍّ مِنْ حُدُودِ اللهِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جَابِرٍ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ

The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "Nobody should be flogged more than ten stripes except if he is guilty of a crime, the legal punishment of which is assigned by Allah."

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ الأَشَجِّ وَقَدِ اخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِي التَّعْزِيرِ وَأَحْسَنُ شَيْءٍ رُوِيَ فِي التَّعْزِيرِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ قَالَ وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ فَأَخْطَأَ فِيهِ وَقَالَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ خَطَأٌ وَالصَّحِيحُ حَدِيثُ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ إِنَّمَا هُوَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ نِيَارٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ
