"And Al-'Abass was in Al-Madinah, and he asked the Ansar for a garment to clothe him in, but they could not find a shirt that would fit him except the shirt of 'Abdullah bin Ubayy, so they clothed him in it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1902)

الكبرى للنسائي:٢٠٤٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هُوَ الزُّهْرِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ «كَانَ الْعَبَّاسُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَطَلَبَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ ثَوْبًا يَكْسُونَهُ فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا قَمِيصًا يَصْلُحُ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا قَمِيصَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ فَكَسَوْهُ إِيَّاهُ»
