The Prophet ﷺ used to pray the two rak'ahs of Fajr, two brief rak'ahs. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1765)   

الكبرى للنسائي:١٤٥٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ «يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ» خَالَفَهُ مَالِكٌ

"My sister Hafsah told me that he used to pray two brief rak'ahs before Fajr."
