[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, and as we were walking, a man from the group recited "Say, 'O disbelievers...'" (Surah Al-Kafirun, verse 1). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for your companion, he has been acquitted of polytheism." So I went to see who it was and gave him the good news. Then another man recited "Say, 'He is Allah, [who is] One...'" (Surah Al-Ikhlas, verse 1). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for your companion, his sins have been forgiven."  

الكبرى للنسائي:١٠٤٧٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو عَنْ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ أَبَا الْمُصَفَّى أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى الْأَنْصَارِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ وَنَحْنُ نَسِيرُ فَقَرَأَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ {قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ} [الكافرون 1] قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَّا صَاحِبُكُمْ فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ» فَذَهَبْتُ أَنْظُرُ مَنْ هُوَ فَأُبَشِّرُهُ فَقَرَأَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ {قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ} [الإخلاص 1] قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَّا صَاحِبُكُمْ فَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ»
