muslim:48cAbū Kurayb Muḥammad b. al-ʿAlāʾ > Wakīʿ > ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b. Jaʿfar > Saʿīd b. Abū Saʿīd al-Maqburī > Abū Shurayḥ al-Khuzāʿī

(The period of the entertainment of a guest is three days, and utmost kindness and courtesy is for a day and a night. =" It is not permissible for a Muslim to stay with, his brother until he makes him sinful. They said: Messenger of Allah, how he would make him sinful? He (the Holy Prophet) said: He stays with him (so long) that nothing is left with him to entertain him.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَجَائِزَتُهُ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَلاَ يَحِلُّ لِرَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يُقِيمَ عِنْدَ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يُؤْثِمَهُ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَكَيْفَ يُؤْثِمُهُ قَالَ يُقِيمُ عِنْدَهُ وَلاَ شَىْءَ لَهُ يَقْرِيهِ بِهِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Hospitality lasts for three days, but it is permissible for one day and one night. It is not allowed for a man to stay with someone until he inconveniences him." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, how does he inconvenience him?" He said, "He stays with him and has nothing to give him to eat."

[Machine] On the authority of Abu Shurayh Al 'Adawi from Khuzay'ah, who was one of the Companions, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "Hospitality is three days, and its extension is a day and a night. It is not permissible for anyone to stay with his brother until he causes him inconvenience." So they said, "O Messenger of Allah, what causes inconvenience?" He said: "He stays with him and does not find anything to feed him."
