This hadith has been reported on the authority of Jabir b. 'Abdullah through another chain of transmitters.

مسلم:٢١١٦b – وَحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ كِلاَهُمَا عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمِثْلِهِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَتَمَسَّحَ بِعَظْمٍ أَوْ بَعْرٍ

ibnmajah:3188 – Hishām b. ʿAmmār > Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah > Ibn Jurayj > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade killing any animal when it is tied up (for use as a target).”

ابن ماجة:٣١٨٨ – حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُقْتَلَ شَىْءٌ مِنَ الدَّوَابِّ صَبْرًا

ibnmajah:3191 – Bakr b. Khalaf Abū Bishr > Abū ʿĀṣim > Ibn Jurayj > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

“At the time of Khaibar we ate horses and wild donkeys.”

ابن ماجة:٣١٩١ – حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ أَبُو بِشْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ أَكَلْنَا زَمَنَ خَيْبَرَ الْخَيْلَ وَحُمُرَ الْوَحْشِ
