Yahya related to me from Malik from Damra ibn Said al-Mazini from Aban ibn Uthman that Uthman ibn Affan ate bread and meat, rinsed his mouth out, washed his hands and wiped his face with them, and then prayed without doing wudu.  

مالك:٢-٢١وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْمَازِنِيِّ عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ

أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ أَكَلَ خُبْزًا وَلَحْمًا ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ وَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَمَسَحَ بِهِمَا وَجْهَهُ ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ
