A treasure from the treasures of Jannah

(1728) bukhari:4205Mūsá b. Ismāʿīl > ʿAbd al-Wāḥid > ʿĀṣim > Abū ʿUthmān > Abū Mūsá al-Ashʿarī

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on expedition to Khaybar, or he said, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out, the people came upon a valley and raised their voices with the takbir: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, lā ilāha illā Allāh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Take it easy on yourselves, for you are not calling upon one who is deaf or absent; you are calling upon One who is Hearing, Near, and He is with you."

I was behind the mount of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he heard me while I was saying, “There is no might and no power except with Allah.” He said to me: "O Abdullah b. Qays." I said, “Labbayk (at your service), Messenger of Allah.” He said: "Shall I not guide you to a phrase from a treasure among the treasures of Jannah?" I said, “Yes, Messenger of Allah; may my father and mother be ransomed for you.” He said:

lā ḥawla wa-lā quwwata illā bi-Allāh

(There is no might and no power except with Allah)

Abu Bakr As-Siddiq said to the Prophet ﷺ "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Teach me an invocation with which I may invoke Allah in my prayers." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Say: O Allah! I have wronged my soul very much (oppressed myself), and none forgives the sins but You; so please bestow Your Forgiveness upon me. No doubt, You are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
