"People will come from the east, paving the way for Mahdi," meaning, for his rule.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْرُجُ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ فَيُوَطِّئُونَ لِلْمَهْدِيِّ يَعْنِي سُلْطَانَهُ
