ذِكْرُ الْعِلَّةِ الَّتِي مِنْ أَجْلِهَا عَاوَدَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي ذَلِكَ
[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became severely ill, he said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." Aisha said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr is a tender-hearted man, and when he stands in your place, the people will not be able to hear the recitation due to his weeping." He said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." She repeated her statement, and he said, "You are like the women of Joseph. Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." Ibn Shihab said, "And Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utba narrated to me from Aisha that she said, 'I opposed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding this matter, but the only reason that compelled me to do so was the fear that people would become displeased with Abu Bakr. And I knew that no one could take his place without people becoming displeased with him. So, I desired that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ change his decision regarding Abu Bakr.'"
