[Machine] "I saw us with the Prophet ﷺ and the sky embraced us, and it felt as if our scent was the scent of sheep."  

الحاكم:٧٣٨٨حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ كَامِلٍ الْقَاضِي ثَنَا أَبُو قِلَابَةَ ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

«لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأَصَابَتْنَا السَّمَاءُ فَكَأَنَّ رِيحَنَا رِيحُ الضَّأْنِ»  

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط البخاري ومسلم

My father said to me: My son, if you had seen us while we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the rain had fallen on us, you would have thought that our smell was the smell of the sheep.

لِي أَبِي يَا بُنَىَّ لَوْ رَأَيْتَنَا وَنَحْنُ مَعَ نَبِيِّنَا ﷺ وَقَدْ أَصَابَتْنَا السَّمَاءُ حَسِبْتَ أَنَّ رِيحَنَا رِيحُ الضَّأْنِ  

tirmidhi:2479Qutaybah > Abū ʿAwānah > Qatādah > Abū Burdah b. Abū Mūsá from his father

"O my son! If you saw us when we were with the Prophet ﷺ and the sky poured upon us, you would think that our smell was the smell of sheep." The meaning of this Hadith is that their garments were of wool, so when the rain fell upon them, the smell coming from their clothes was that of sheep.

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ وَمَعْنَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ ثِيَابَهُمُ الصُّوفُ فَكَانَ إِذَا أَصَابَهُمُ الْمَطَرُ يَجِيءُ مِنْ ثِيَابِهِمْ رِيحُ الضَّأْنِ
