With great authority comes great responsibility

from the Prophet ﷺ that he said, “Woe to the rulers! Woe to the authorities! Woe to the trustees! Some people will wish their forelocks were hanging from the star of Pleiades on the Day of Resurrection rather than had been responsible for anything.”  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ «وَيْلٌ لِلْأُمَرَاءِ وَيْلٌ لِلْعُرَفَاءِ وَيْلٌ لِلْأُمَنَاءِ۔ لَيَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَنَّ ذَوَائِبَهُمْ كَانَتْ مُعَلَّقَةً بِالثُّرَيَّا يَتَذَبْذَبُونَ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلَمْ يَكُونُوا عَمِلُوا عَلَى شَيْءٍ۔»  

from the Prophet ﷺ that he said, “Woe to the rulers! Woe to the authorities! Woe to the trustees! Some people will wish their forelocks were hanging from the star of Pleiades on the Day of Resurrection rather than had been responsible for anything.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 8627)   

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ وَيْلٌ لِلْأُمَنَاءِ وَيْلٌ لِلْوُزَرَاءِ لَيَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَنَّ ذَوَائِبَهُمْ كَانَتْ مُعَلَّقَةً بِالثُّرَيَّا يَتَذَبْذَبُونَ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَأَنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَلُوا عَمَلًا  

"وَيلٌ لِلْعُرَفاءِ، وَيلٌ لِلأُمَرَاءِ، وَيلٌ لِلأُمَنَاءِ، لَيَوَدَّنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُعَلَّقِينَ بِذَوائِبهِمْ بِالثُّرَيَّا يُذَبْذَبُ بِهِمْ بَينَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ، وأَنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَلُوا مِنْ أَمْرِ النَّاسِ شَيئًا".  

"وَيْلٌ للأُمَرَاءِ، وَوَيلٌ لِلعُرَفَاءِ، وَوَيلٌ للأُمَنَاءِ، لَيَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامةِ أَنَّ نَواصِيَهم مُعَلَّقَةٌ بِالثُّرَيَّا يَتَجَلْجَلُونَ بَينَ السَّمَاءِ والأَرْضِ، وَأَنَّهُمْ، لَنْ يَلُوا عَمَلًا".
