[Machine] He said, "I used to test my companions on the day of the Battle of Badr by asking them questions." Muhammad ibn Umar said, "This is a mistake in the narration of the people of Iraq regarding Jabir and Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari. They attribute it to those who witnessed the Battle of Badr, but Musa ibn Uqba, Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Abu Ma'shar, and anyone who narrated the biography did not mention it."  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «كُنْتُ أَمْتَحُ لِأَصْحَابِي يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ مِنَ الْقَلِيبِ» فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ «هَذَا غَلَطٌ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ فِي جَابِرٍ وَأَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ يُصَيِّرُونَهُمَا فِيمَنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا وَلَمْ يَرْوِ ذَلِكَ مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ وَلَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَلَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ وَلَا أَحَدٌ مِمَّنْ رَوَى السِّيرَةَ»
