[Machine] He prayed and struck the ground with his hand. The people also struck the ground with their hands. Then he descended and prayed, then he wrote to Muawiyah. Muawiyah wrote back asking to release him to him and he released him to him. When he arrived, he said, "Peace be upon you, O Amir al-Mu'minin." He said, "Amir al-Mu'minin, am I? I will not dismiss you nor will I resign you." So he ordered his killing. When they took him away, he asked them to allow him to pray two units of prayer, so they allowed him and he prayed two units of prayer. Then he said, "Do not uncover my body with an iron tool, do not wash my blood off of me, and bury me in my clothes, for I am a claimant." Hisham said that Muhammad ibn Sirin used to mention the hadith of the stone when asked about the martyr.  

لَهُ «الصَّلَاةُ وَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى الْحَصَى» وَضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ إِلَى الْحَصَى فَنَزَلَ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ كَتَبَ فِيهِ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَكَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَنْ سَرِّحْ بِهِ إِلَيَّ فَسَرَّحَهُ إِلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ «السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ» قَالَ «وَأَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنَا؟ إِنِّي لَا أُقِيلُكَ وَلَا أَسْتَقِيلُكَ» فَأَمَرَ بِقَتْلِهِ فَلَمَّا انْطَلِقُوا بِهِ طَلَبَ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يَأْذَنُوا لَهُ فَيُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَأْذِنُوا لَهُ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَا تُطْلِقُوا عَنِّي حَدِيدًا وَلَا تَغْسِلُوا عَنِّي دَمًا وَادْفِنُونِي فِي ثِيَابِي فَإِنِّي مُخَاصِمٌ» قَالَ فَقُتِلَ قَالَ هِشَامٌ كَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ «إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنِ الشَّهِيدِ ذَكَرَ حَدِيثَ حُجْرَ»
