[Machine] And Ka'b ibn Malik ibn Abi Ka'b ibn al-Qayn ibn Ka'b ibn Sawwad ibn Ghanm ibn Ka'b ibn Salamah, he was a poet of the Messenger of Allah. He was known as Abu Abdullah, and he witnessed the Battle of Uhud. He was wounded with twelve wounds and received honorable mention. He did not participate in the Battle of Badr, but he witnessed the Battle of the Trench and all other battles with the Messenger of Allah, except for the Battle of Tabuk. He missed it, being one of the three who stayed behind during the Battle of Tabuk. He then repented and was pardoned. Ka'b ibn Malik died in the year fifty during the caliphate of Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan. He was then seventy-seven years old.

وَكَعْبُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَبِي كَعْبِ بْنِ الْقَيْنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ سَوَّادِ بْنِ غَنْمِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ وَهُوَ شَاعِرُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ فِيمَا قِيلَ يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَشَهِدَ كَعْبٌ أُحُدًا فَجُرِحَ بِهَا بَضْعَةَ عَشَرَ جُرْحًا وَارْتُثَّ وَلَمْ يَشْهَدْ بَدْرًا وَشَهِدَ الْخَنْدَقَ وَالْمَشَاهِدَ كُلَّهَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا خَلَا تَبُوكَ فَإِنَّهُ تَخَلَّفَ عَنْهَا وَهُوَ أَحَدُ الثَّلَاثَةِ الَّذِينَ تَخَلَّفُوا فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ ثُمَّ تِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَاتَ كَعْبُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ سَنَةَ خَمْسِينَ فِي إِمَارَةِ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ابْنُ سَبْعٍ وَسَبْعِينَ سَنَةً
