[Machine] I witnessed Ali on the day of Siffin while he was saying, "Who will pledge allegiance to me for death?" or he said, "For fighting?" So ninety-nine people pledged allegiance to him. He then said, "Where is Tammam? Where is the one I was promised?" A man then came to him wearing a turban made of sheep's wool, and pledged allegiance to him for death and killing. It was said that this man was Uwais al-Qarani. He continued to fight until he was killed.
