[Machine] "Hatib Ibn Abi Belta'ah was nicknamed Abu Muhammad, and he was involved in the incident known as "Lakhm". He was one of the sons of Rashidah who participated in the battles of Badr, the Trench, and all the other campaigns with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him to the ruler of Alexandria, Muqawqis. He was mentioned among the skilled archers who were companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He passed away in Al-Madinah at the age of sixty-five. Uthman Ibn Affan performed his funeral prayer. Hatib was a merchant who sold food, and he had a good physique with a light beard, and his body leaned towards slimness."  

الحاكم:٥٣٠٥حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْجَهْمِ ثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ

«حَاطِبُ بْنُ أَبِي بَلْتَعَةَ يُكَنَّى أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَهُوَ فِيمَا قِيلَ مِنْ لَخْمٍ ثُمَّ أَحَدُ بَنِي رَاشِدَةَ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا وَالْخَنْدَقَ وَالْمَشَاهِدَ كُلَّهَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعَثَهُ إِلَى الْمُقَوْقَسِ صَاحِبِ الْإِسْكَنْدَرِيَّةِ وَكَانَ فِيمَا ذُكِرَ مِنَ الرُّمَاةِ الْمَذْكُورِينَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَمَاتَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ وَكَانَ تَاجِرًا يَبِيعُ الطَّعَامَ وَكَانَ حَسَنَ الْجِسْمِ خَفِيفَ اللِّحْيَةِ أَحْنَى إِلَى الْقِصَرِ مَا هُوَ شَثْنُ الْأَصَابِعِ»
