[Machine] "And indeed, he witnessed the Battle of Badr with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He was a black man by birth, whom Abu Bakr bought from Umayyah ibn Khalaf. Abu Bakr gave him as a gift, and in return, he took Bilal. His mother's name was Hamamah. Both he and his mother became Muslim. He was known as Abu Abdullah. He passed away in Damascus in the year twenty (AH) or it is said eighteen."  

الحاكم:٥٢٣٣حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ «أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ اشْتَرَى بِلَالًا مِنْ أُمَيَّةَ بْنَ خَلَفٍ

وَأَنَّهُ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ أَسْوَدَ مُوَلَّدًا اشْتَرَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مِنْ أُمَيَّةَ بْنَ خَلَفٍ أَعْطَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ غُلَامًا وَأَخَذَ بَدَلَهُ بِلَالًا وَكَانَتْ أُمُّهُ اسْمُهَا حَمَامَةُ وَكَانَا أَسْلَمَا جَمِيعًا وَكَانَ يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ تُوُفِّيَ بِدِمَشْقَ سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ وَيُقَالُ ثَمَانَ عَشْرَةَ»
