[Machine] We were at the forefront with Hasan ibn Ali, numbering twelve thousand, with our swords dripping with sharpness ready to fight the people of Sham, led by Abu al-Umr Taha. When the peace agreement between Hasan ibn Ali and Muawiya reached us, it was as if our backs were broken from anger and rage. When Hasan ibn Ali arrived in Kufa, a man from among us, known as Abu Amir Sufyan ibn al-Layl, stood up and said, "Peace be upon you, O debaser of the believers." Hasan replied, "Do not say that, O Abu Amir. I have not debased the believers, but I disliked killing them in pursuit of power." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about this in the summary.
