[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was directed towards the Kaaba, they said, "O Messenger of Allah, what about those who died while they were praying towards Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa?" So Allah sent down the verse {And Allah would not let your faith go to waste} [Quran 2:143] until the end of the verse. 'Ubaydullah ibn Musa said, "This hadith informs you that prayer is a part of faith."  

الحاكم:٣٠٦٣أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمَحْبُوبِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ ثنا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا وُجِّهَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَكَيْفَ بِالَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ {وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ} [البقرة 143] إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى «هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ يُخْبِرُكَ أَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ»  

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح

when the Prophet (May peace be upon him) turned towards the Ka’bah (in prayer), the people asked : Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him)! what will happen with those who died while they prayed with their faces towards Jerusalem ? Allah the Exalted, then revealed : “And never would Allah make your faith of no effect.”  

أبو داود:٤٦٨٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الأَنْبَارِيُّ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ الْمَعْنَى قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا تَوَجَّهَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَكَيْفَ الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى { وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ }

"When the Prophet ﷺ began facing the Ka'bah they said: 'O Messenger of Allah! How about our brothers who died while they were praying toward Bait Al-Maqdis?' So Allah Most High revealed: Allah would not allow your faith to be wasted. (2:143)"  

Abū ʿĪsá said that this Ḥadīth is Ḥasan-Ṣaḥīḥ.

لَمَّا وُجِّهَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ بِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ (وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ ) الآيَةَ  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

[Machine] When the direction of prayer (Qibla) was changed, it was said, "O Messenger of Allah, what about those who died while facing the direction of Al-Masjid al-Aqsa?" So Allah revealed: "And Allah would not let your faith go to waste" (Quran 2:143).

[Machine] It was said to the Prophet ﷺ when the qibla was changed, what about those who died while praying towards the house of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa? So Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, revealed: "And Allah would not let your faith go to waste." [Al-Baqarah 143]
