[Machine] He said, "I entered the mosque on Friday and the Prophet ﷺ was giving a sermon, so I sat close to Ubay ibn Ka'b. The Prophet ﷺ recited Surat Bara'ah (Chapter 9 of the Quran). So I asked Ubay, "When was this Surah revealed?" He frowned and did not respond to me. He said, "I have memorized this narration and found it in my book, and I searched for it in the codices but could not find it with its full length. The narration is authenticated through its chain of transmission."  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَجَلَسْتُ قَرِيبًا مِنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ «فَقَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ سُورَةَ بَرَاءَةَ» فَقُلْتُ لِأُبَيٍّ مَتَى نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةُ؟ قَالَ فَتَجَهَّمَنِي وَلَمْ يُكَلِّمْنِي قَالَ «وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ هَكَذَا وَجَدْتُهُ فِي كِتَابِي وَطَلَبْتُهُ فِي الْمَسَانِيدِ فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ بِطُولِهِ الْحَدِيثُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ صَحِيحٌ» صحيح
