15. Book of Blood Money
١٥۔ كِتَابُ الدِّيَاتِ
If I were to know that you had been peeping through the door, I would have thrust that into your eyes, and Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Permission is needed as a protection against glance. (Using translation from Muslim 2156a)
أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ فِي جُحْرٍ فِي حُجْرَةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِدْرًى يُخَلِّلُ بِهَا رَأْسَهُ فَرَآهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَنْظُرُنِي لَطَعَنْتُ بِهَا فِي عَيْنَيْكَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِذْنُ مِنْ أَجْلِ النَّظَرِ»
[Machine] While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in a chamber, and with him was a comb with which he would comb his hair, a man looked at him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "If I had known that you were watching, I would have stabbed your eyes with this comb. Indeed, permission was granted only for the purpose of looking."
بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حُجْرَةٍ وَمَعَهُ مِدْرًى يَحُكُّ بِهِ رَأْسَهُ اطَّلَعَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَنْظُرُ لَقُمْتُ حَتَّى أَطْعَنَ بِهِ عَيْنَيْكَ إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِذْنُ مِنْ أَجْلِ النَّظَرِ»
