The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver the Khutba while standing and then he would sit, then stand again as you do now-a-days.  

البخاري:٩٢٠ – حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ كَمَا تَفْعَلُونَ الآنَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to deliver the Friday sermon while standing, then he would sit, and then he would stand again.

[Machine] About the sermon of the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "He used to deliver the sermon while standing, then he would sit for a while, and then he would stand again."
