Rebuking excessive lamentation

bukhari:4267 – ʿImrān b. Maysarah > Muḥammad b. Fuḍayl > Ḥuṣayn > ʿĀmir > al-Nuʿmān b. Bashīr

Abdullah b. Rawahah fainted, and his sister Amrah began to weep, saying, “O my mountain!” and such-and-such, listing his virtues. When he regained consciousness, he said, “You did not say anything except that it was asked of me, ‘Are you really like that?’”

البخاري:٤٢٦٧ – حَدَّثَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ عَامِرٍ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ ؓ قَالَ

أُغْمِيَ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَوَاحَةَ فَجَعَلَتْ أُخْتُهُ عَمْرَةُ تَبْكِي: وَاجَبَلاَهْ وَاكَذَا وَاكَذَا، تُعَدِّدُ عَلَيْهِ. فَقَالَ: حِينَ أَفَاقَ مَا قُلْتِ شَيْئًا إِلاَّ قِيلَ لِي: آنْتَ كَذَلِكَ؟
