'Three have a double reward: one of the People of the Book who believes in his Prophet and then believes in Muhammad has two rewards. When a slave carries out the due of Allah and the due of his master, he has a double reward. And (the third is) a man who has a slavegirl with whom he has intercourse and teaches her well and instructs her well and then sets her free and marries her. He has two rewards.'"

قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِعَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ يَا أَبَا عَمْرٍو إِنَّا نَتَحَدَّثُ عِنْدَنَا أَنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا أَعْتَقَ أُمَّ وَلَدِهِ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَهَا كَانَ كَالرَّاكِبِ بَدَنَتَهُ فَقَالَ عَامِرٌ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثَلاَثَةٌ لَهُمْ أَجْرَانِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ وَآمَنَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَالْعَبْدُ الْمَمْلُوكُ إِذَا أَدَّى حَقَّ اللهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ وَرَجُلٌ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ أَمَةٌ يَطَأهَا فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ قَالَ عَامِرٌ أَعْطَيْنَاكَهَا بِغَيْرِ شَيْءٍ وَقَدْ كَانَ يَرْكَبُ فِيمَا دُونَهَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said "Three persons will have a double reward: 1. A Person from the people of the scriptures who believed in his prophet (Jesus or Moses) and then believed in the Prophet ﷺ Muhammad (i .e. has embraced Islam). 2. A slave who discharges his duties to Allah and his master. 3. A master of a woman-slave who teaches her good manners and educates her in the best possible way (the religion) and manumits her and then marries her."

رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «ثَلاَثَةٌ لَهُمْ أَجْرَانِ: (١) رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ وَآمَنَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ، (٢) وَالْعَبْدُ الْمَمْلُوكُ إِذَا أَدَّى حَقَّ اللَّهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ، (٣) وَرَجُلٌ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ أَمَةٌ (يَطَؤُهَا) فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ۔»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "He who has a slave-girl and teaches her good manners and improves her education and then manumits and marries her, will get a double reward; and any slave who observes Allah's right and his master's right will get a double reward."

عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ كَانَتْ لَهُ جَارِيَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَأَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللَّهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If a person teaches his slave girl good manners properly, educates her properly, and then manumits and marries her, he will get a double reward. And if a man believes in Jesus and then believes in me, he will get a double reward. And if a slave fears his Lord (i.e. Allah) and obeys his masters, he too will get a double reward."

عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَدَّبَ الرَّجُلُ أَمَتَهُ فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَإِذَا آمَنَ بِعِيسَى ثُمَّ آمَنَ بِي فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَالْعَبْدُ إِذَا اتَّقَى رَبَّهُ وَأَطَاعَ مَوَالِيَهُ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, any man who has a slave girl whom he educates properly, teaches good manners, manumits and marries her, will get a double reward And if any man of the people of the Scriptures believes in his own prophet and then believes in me too, he will (also) get a double reward And any slave who fulfills his duty to his master and to his Lord, will (also) get a double reward."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ وَلِيدَةٌ فَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا وَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ وَآمَنَ بِي فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا مَمْلُوكٍ أَدَّى حَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ وَحَقَّ رَبِّهِ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ قَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ خُذْهَا بِغَيْرِ شَىْءٍ قَدْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَرْحَلُ فِيمَا دُونَهُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَعْتَقَهَا ثُمَّ أَصْدَقَهَا

0 Abu! some of the people amongst us who belong to Khurasan say that a person who freed his bondswoman and then married her is like one who rode over a sacrificial animal. Sha'bi said: Abu Burda b. Abi Musa narrated it to me on the authority of his father that verily the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There are three (classes of persons) who would be given a double reward. One who is amongst the People of the Book and believed in his apostle and (lived) to see the time of Apostle Muhammad ﷺ and affirmed his faith in him and followed him and attested his truth, for him is the double reward; and the slave of the master who discharges all those obligations that he owes to Allah and discharges his duties that he owes to his master, for him there is a double reward. And a man who had a bondswoman and fed her and fed her well, then taught her good manners, and did that well and later on granted her freedom and married her, for him is the double reward. Then Sha'bi said: Accept this hadith without (giving) anything. Formerly a man was (obliged) to travel to Medina even for a smaller hadith than this. This hadith has been narrated by another chain of transmitters like Abu Bakr b. Abi Shaiba, 'Abda b. Sulaiman Ibn Abi 'Umar Sufyan, 'Ubaidullah b. Mu'adh, Shu'ba; all of them heard it from Salih b. Salih.

رَأَيْتُ رَجُلاً مِنْ أَهْلِ خُرَاسَانَ سَأَلَ الشَّعْبِيَّ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عَمْرٍو إِنَّ مَنْ قِبَلَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ خُرَاسَانَ يَقُولُونَ فِي الرَّجُلِ إِذَا أَعْتَقَ أَمَتَهُ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَهَا فَهُوَ كَالرَّاكِبِ بَدَنَتَهُ فَقَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنُ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ ثَلاَثَةٌ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ وَأَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَآمَنَ بِهِ وَاتَّبَعَهُ وَصَدَّقَهُ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَعَبْدٌ مَمْلُوكٌ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَحَقَّ سَيِّدِهِ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَرَجُلٌ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَغَذَاهَا فَأَحْسَنَ غِذَاءَهَا ثُمَّ أَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ أَدَبَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ ثُمَّ قَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ لِلْخُرَاسَانِيِّ خُذْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ بِغَيْرِ شَىْءٍ فَقَدْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَرْحَلُ فِيمَا دُونَ هَذَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'There are three who will be given a twofold reward: A man who has a slave woman whom he disciplines and disciplines her well, and teaches and teaches her well, then he manumits her and marries her; a slave who fulfills his duty toward Allah and toward his masters; and a believer from among the People of the Book.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثَلاَثَةٌ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ أَدَبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا وَعَبْدٌ يُؤَدِّي حَقَّ اللَّهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ وَمُؤْمِنُ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ

'Whoever has a slave woman and teaches her good manners and educates her, then sets her free and marries her, will have two rewards. Any man from among the People of the Book who believed in his Prophet and believed in Muhammad will have two rewards. Any slave who does his duty towards Allah and towards his masters will have two rewards.” (Sahih)(one of the narrators) Salih said: “Sha'bi said: 'I have given this (Hadith) to you for little effort on your part. A rider would travel to Al-Madinah for less than this.' ”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ جَارِيَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ أَدَبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ وَآمَنَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ مَمْلُوكٍ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ قَالَ صَالِحٌ قَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ قَدْ أَعْطَيْتُكَهَا بِغَيْرِ شَىْءٍ إِنْ كَانَ الرَّاكِبُ لَيَرْكَبُ فِيمَا دُونَهَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ

[AI] I was with Ash-Sha'abi (a scholar) when a man from the people of Khurasan came to him and said, "O Abu Amr, the people of Khurasan say that if a man frees his slave and then marries her, he is like a rider whose mount is tired. Is this true?" Ash-Sha'abi said, "Abu Burdah ibn Abi Musa informed me that his father said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There are three whose reward is given twice: a man from the people of the Book who believed in his prophet and then believed in the Prophet ﷺ and followed him, and a slave who fulfilled the rights of Allah and the rights of his master, and a man who had a female slave and he fed her and treated her well and taught her well. Then he set her free and married her."

Ash-Sha'abi then said to the man, "Take this hadith without doubt, for he used to travel to Medina for matters less important than this." Hushaim said, "They informed me in Basra, so I went to him and asked him about it."

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ الشَّعْبِيِّ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ خُرَاسَانَ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عَمْرٍو إِنَّ مَنْ قِبَلَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ خُرَاسَانَ يَقُولُونَ فِي الرَّجُلِ إِذَا أَعْتَقَ أَمَتَهُ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَهَا فَهُوَ كَالرَّاكِبِ بَدَنَتَهُ؟ فَقَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنُ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثَةٌ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَآمَنَ بِهِ وَاتَّبَعَهُ وَعَبْدٌ مَمْلُوكٌ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللَّهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَرَجُلٌ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَغَذَّاهَا فَأَحْسَنَ غِذَاءَهَا وَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا فَأَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلرَّجُلِ «خُذْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ بِغَيْرِ شَيْءٍ فَقَدْ كَانَ يُرْحَلُ فِيمَا دُونَ هَذَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ» فَقَالَ هُشَيْمٌ أَفَادُونِي بِالْبَصْرَةِ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْهُ؟

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Whoever has a slave girl and teaches her, and behaves well towards her, and teaches her good manners, and then frees her and marries her, he will have two rewards. And a servant who fulfills the rights of Allah (may He be exalted) and the rights of his slaves, and a man from the people of the Book who believes in what Jesus brought and what Muhammad ﷺ brought, he will have two rewards."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا وَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَأَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَعَبْدٌ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللهِ ﷻ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِمَا جَاءَ بِهِ عِيسَى وَمَا جَاءَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "There are three types of people who will receive their rewards twice. A man who had a slave girl and he educated her and treated her well, and then he freed her and married her. And a slave who fulfilled the rights of his Lord and his master. And a man who believed in his book and in Muhammad ﷺ ." Ash-Sha'abi said to me, "Take it without any condition, even if you have to travel all the way to Kerman, it will be easy for you."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ ثَلَاثَةٌ يُؤْتَوْنَ أُجُورَهُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَافَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا وَمَمْلُوكٌ أَعْطَى حَقَّ رَبِّهِ ﷻ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ وَرَجُلٌ آمَنَ بِكِتَابِهِ وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ لِي الشَّعْبِيُّ خُذْهَا بِغَيْرِ شَيْءٍ وَلَوْ سِرْتَ فِيهَا إِلَى كَرْمَانَ لَكَانَ ذَلِكَ يَسِيرًا

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "There are three individuals who will be rewarded twice: a man who believed in the first and the last books (revealed by Allah), a man who had a slave girl and he educated her and treated her kindly, then he freed her and married her, and a slave who worships his Lord excellently and sincerely advises his master."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ثَلَاثَةٌ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ آمَنَ بِالْكِتَابِ الْأَوَّلِ وَالْكِتَابِ الْآخِرِ وَرَجُلٌ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا وَعَبْدٌ مَمْلُوكٌ أَحْسَنَ عِبَادَةَ رَبِّهِ وَنَصَحَ لِسَيِّدِهِ أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ

'Whoever has a slave woman and teaches her good manners and educates her, then sets her free and marries her, will have two rewards. Any man from among the People of the Book who believed in his Prophet and believed in Muhammad will have two rewards. Any slave who does his duty towards Allah and towards his masters will have two rewards.” (Sahih)(one of the narrators) Salih said: “Sha'bi said: 'I have given this (Hadith) to you for little effort on your part. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْكَانَتْ لَهُ جَارِيَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ أَدَبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ وَآمَنَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ مَمْلُوكٍ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللهِ ﷻ عَلَيْهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ

[AI] "I saw a man from the people of Khorasan come to him (the Prophet) and he said, 'O Abu Amr, those who came before us from the people of Khorasan used to say that when a man emancipates his slave and then marries her, he is like a passenger with his garment on.' Ash-Sha'bi said Abu Burdah informed me from his father that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'There are three who will have a double reward: a man from the people of the scripture who believed in his Prophet then believed in the Messenger, so he will have two rewards; a slave owned by someone who fulfills his right to Allah, Glorious is He and His right to his master, so he will have two rewards; and a man who had a female slave, so he fed her well and taught her good manners, then he freed her and married her, so he will have two rewards.'"

رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ خُرَاسَانَ أَتَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عَمْرٍو إِنَّ مَنْ قَبْلَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ خُرَاسَانَ يَقُولُونَ إِذَا عَتَقَ الرَّجُلُ أَمَتَهُ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَهَا فَهُوَ كَالرَّاكِبِ بَدَنَتَهُ فَقَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «ثَلَاثَةٌ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَآمَنَ بِهِ وَاتَّبَعَهُ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَعَبْدٌ مَمْلُوكٌ يُؤَدِّي حَقَّ اللَّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلَا عَلَيْهِ وَحَقَّ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ لِمَوْلَاهُ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَرَجُلٌ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَغَذَّاهَا فَأَحْسَنَ غِذَاءَهَا وَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ أَدَبَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ»

[AI] "To the common people, we say that when a man frees his slave, marries her, and treats her well, he will be rewarded like the one who owns a mount. Sha'bi told me that Abu Burdah informed him from Abu Musa who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When a man educates his slave woman and teaches her well, then frees her and marries her, he will receive double reward. And if a man believes in Jesus and then believes in me, he will receive double reward. And when a servant fears his Lord and obeys his master, he will receive double reward.'"

لِلشَّعْبِيِّ إِنَّا نَقُولُ عِنْدَنَا إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا أَعْتَقَ أُمَّ وَلَدِهِ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَهَا فَهُوَ كَالرَّاكِبِ هَدْيَهُ قَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَدَّبَ الرَّجُلُ أَمَتَهُ وَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَإِذَا آمَنَ الرَّجُلُ بِعِيسَى ثُمَّ آمَنَ بِي فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَالْعَبْدُ إِذَا اتَّقَى رَبَّهُ وَأَطَاعَ مَوَالِيَهُ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ»

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ كَانَتْ لَهُ جَارِيَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا مَمْلُوكٍ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ ثُمَّ أَسْلَمَ وَآمَنَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَخْبَرَنَاهُ يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِنَحْوِهِ وَهَذَا الْكَلَامُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إِلَّا أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are four who will receive their rewards twice: the wives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a person from the People of the Book who embraces Islam, a man who has a slave girl whom he likes and then frees her and marries her, and a servant who fulfills the rights of Allah and the rights of his master."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعَةٌ يُؤْتَوْنَ أُجُورَهُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَزْوَاجُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَرَجُلٌ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ أَمَةٌ فَأَعْجَبَتْهُ فَأَعْتَقَهَا ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَهَا وَعَبْدٌ مَمْلُوكٌ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللهِ وَحَقَّ سَادَتِهِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'There are three who will be given a twofold reward: A man who has a slave woman whom he disciplines and disciplines her well, and teaches and teaches her well, then he manumits her and marries her; a slave who fulfills his duty toward Allah and toward his masters; and a believer from among the People of the Book.'" قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثَةٌ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ أَدَبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا وَعَبْدٌ يُؤَدِّي حَقَّ اللهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ وَمُؤْمِنُ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ

0 Abu! some of the people amongst us who belong to Khurasan say that a person who freed his bondswoman and then married her is like one who rode over a sacrificial animal. Sha'bi said: Abu Burda b. Abi Musa narrated it to me on the authority of his father that verily the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There are three (classes of persons) who would be given a double reward. One who is amongst the People of the Book and believed in his apostle and (lived) to see the time of Apostle Muhammad ﷺ and affirmed his faith in him and followed him and attested his truth, for him is the double reward; and the slave of the master who discharges all those obligations that he owes to Allah and discharges his duties that he owes to his master, for him there is a double reward. And a man who had a bondswoman and fed her and fed her well, then taught her good manners, and did that well and later on granted her freedom and married her, for him is the double reward. Then Sha'bi said: Accept this hadith without (giving) anything. Formerly a man was (obliged) to travel to Medina even for a smaller hadith than this. This hadith has been narrated by another chain of transmitters like Abu Bakr b. Abi Shaiba, 'Abda b. Sulaiman Ibn Abi 'Umar Sufyan, 'Ubaidullah b. Mu'adh, Shu'ba; all of them heard it from Salih b. يَا أَبَا عَمْرٍو إِنَّ مَنْ قَبْلَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ خُرَاسَانَ يَقُولُونَ إِذَا أَعْتَقَ الرَّجُلُ أمَتَهُ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَهَا فَهُوَ كَالرَّاكِبِ بَدَنَتَهُ فَقَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنُ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ ثَلَاثَةٌ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِنَبِيِّهِ وَأَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَآمَنَ بِهِ وَاتَّبَعَهُ وَصَدَّقَهُ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَعَبْدٌ مَمْلُوكٌ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَرَجُلٌ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَغَذَّاهَا فَأَحْسَنَ غِذَاءَهَا ثُمَّ أَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ ثُمَّ قَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ لِلْخُرَاسَانِيِّ خُذْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ بِغَيْرِ شَيْءٍ فَقَدْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَرْحَلُ فِيمَا دُونَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever has a female slave and treats her well, educates her and teaches her, and then sets her free and marries her, he will have two rewards. And whoever fulfills the rights of Allah and the rights of his slaves, he will have two rewards."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ كَانَتْ لَهُ جَارِيَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا وَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ مَمْلُوكٍ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللهِ ﷻ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever has a slave woman, and he educates her well and teaches her well, and then he frees her and marries her, he will have two rewards. And whichever slave performs the rights of Allah and the rights of his master, he will have two rewards."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ كَانَتْ لَهُ جَارِيَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا وَأَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا؛ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَأَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ مَمْلُوكٍ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ؛ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ

"أربَعةٌ يُؤتَوْنَ أجَورَهم مرَّتينِ: أَزْواجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ، وَمَنْ أسْلَمَ مِنْ أهْلِ الكتاب، ورجلُ كانَتْ عِنْدَهُ أمة فأعجبتْهُ فأعْتقها ثُمَّ تزوَّجها، وعبْدٌ مَملوكٌ أدَّى حق اللهِ وحق سادَتهِ".

"ثَلَاثَةٌ يُؤتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُم مرتين: رجل من أَهلِ الكتابِ آمن بنبيه وَأَدرك النبى ﷺ فآمنَ به واتبعه وصدَّقه فله أجران، وعبد مملوك أدَّى حقَّ اللَّه وحقَّ سيِّدِه فله أَجْران، ورجل كانت له أَمةٌ فَغَذَّاها فأحسَنَ عداءَها ثُمَّ أَدَّبها فأحسن تأدِيبها وعلَّمها فأَحسنَ تعليمها ثم أعتقها وتزوجها فلَه أَجران".

"مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ جَارِيَةٌ فَأَحْسَنَ تأدِيبَهَا، وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا، ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ اثْنَانِ".
