The Prophet ﷺ said, "I have made Medina a sanctuary between its two (Harrat) mountains." The Prophet ﷺ went to the tribe of Bani Haritha and said (to them), "I see that you have gone out of the sanctuary," but looking around, he added, "No, you are inside the sanctuary."  

البخاري:١٨٦٩حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ حُرِّمَ مَا بَيْنَ لاَبَتَىِ الْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى لِسَانِي قَالَ وَأَتَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَنِي حَارِثَةَ فَقَالَ أَرَاكُمْ يَا بَنِي حَارِثَةَ قَدْ خَرَجْتُمْ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ فَقَالَ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Verily, Allah has forbidden on my tongue what is between the two limits of Madinah, and then the sons of so-and-so came and he said, 'I can only see you have left the sacred area.' Then he looked again and said, 'Rather, you are still in it, rather, you are still in it.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What I utter is forbidden upon my tongue from the outskirts of the city to the extent that you, O the descendants of Harithah, seem to have left the premises of the sanctuary." Then he looked again and said, "No, actually, you are still within it."

"عَنْ سَعِيدٍ المقْبَريِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رسولُ اللهِ ﷺ : إِنَّ اللهَ- تَبَارَكَ وتَعَالَى- حَرَّمَ عَلَى لِسانِي مَا بَيْنَ لابَتَي المِدينَةِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لبَنِي حَارِثَةَ وَهُمْ في سند الحرة: مَا أراكُم يا بَنِي حَارِثَةَ إِلَّا قَدْ خَرَجْتُم مِنْ الحَرَمِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: بَلْ أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ، بَلْ أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ".
