17.10 Whoever thinks that Allah has not made prostration of recitation compulsory
[Machine] It was said to Imran ibn Husayn, "The man hears the prostration (in the prayer) but did not sit for it." He said, "Do you think if he sat for it, it would be obligatory upon him?" Salman said, "Why did he not sit with us (in congregation)?" Uthman said, "The prostration is only for the one who hears it." Az-Zuhri said, "One should not prostrate unless he is clean. So if you prostrate while you are in a state of presence, then face the qiblah (the direction of prayer). But if you are riding, then it does not matter where your face is." As-Sa'ib ibn Yazid used to not prostrate for the prostration of the reciter.
