[Machine] He intended by prohibition to specify it with fasting as a way of honoring it, and Allah knows best.  

البيهقي:٨٤٩٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ اللَّيْثِ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ اللَّيْثَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا ذَكَرَ لَهُ أَنَّهُ نُهِيَ عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ السَّبْتِ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حِمْصِيٌّ 8496 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ قَالَ مَا زِلْتُ لَهُ كَاتِمًا ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُهُ انْتَشَرَ يَعْنِي حَدِيثَ ابْنِ بُسْرٍ هَذَا فِي صَوْمِ يَوْمِ السَّبْتِ وَقَدْ مَضَى فِي حَدِيثِ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ ؓ فِي الْبَابِ قَبْلَهُ مَا دَلَّ عَلَى جَوَازِ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ السَّبْتِ وَكَأَنَّهُ

أَرَادَ بِالنَّهْيِ تَخْصِيصَهُ بِالصَّوْمِ عَلَى طَرِيقِ التَّعْظِيمِ لَهُ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
