[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to cover his hand or garment with it when he sneezed, then he would lower his voice with it.  

البيهقي:٣٥٨٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سُمَيٌّ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا عَطَسَ أَمْسَكَ يَدَهُ أَوْ ثَوْبَهُ عَلَى فِيهِ ثُمَّ خَفَضَ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sneezed, he placed his hand or a garment on his mouth, and lessened the noise. The transmitter Yahya is doubtful about the exact words khafada or ghadda (lessened).  

أبو داود:٥٠٢٩ – حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلاَنَ عَنْ سُمَىٍّ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا عَطَسَ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ أَوْ ثَوْبَهُ عَلَى فِيهِ وَخَفَضَ أَوْ غَضَّ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ شَكَّ يَحْيَى
