[Machine] I heard Abu Hurairah say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer, and we thought it was Fajr (morning prayer). When he finished, he said, 'Has anyone recited?' A man said, 'Yes, I, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'I have to present my dispute with the Qur'an?' 'Ali bin Al-Madini said that Sufyan and Al-Zuhri said, 'I said something that I didn't remember. My memorization ended at this point.' And Al-Ma'mar narrated from Al-Zuhri that people stopped reciting what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited loudly. 'Ali said, 'Sufyan told me one day, and I looked into something with me, and there, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the Fajr prayer without a doubt.' And Musaddad said in his hadith, 'Al-Ma'mar said, 'People stopped reciting what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited loudly.' And Ibn Al-Sarh said in his hadith, 'Al-Ma'mar narrated from Al-Zuhri that Abu Hurairah said, 'People stopped [reciting with the Prophet] and 'Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Zuhri said, 'Sufyan mentioned something that I didn't hear.' And Al-Ma'mar said, 'Indeed, he said, "People stopped reciting what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited loudly."' And Abu Dawud said, 'I heard Muhammad bin Yahya bin Fares saying, 'The people stopped [reciting with the Prophet] and Muhammad bin Ismail Al-Bukhari mentioned the narration in his Tarikh (history).'' This statement is from the statement of Al-Zuhri. Ibrahim bin Muhammad Al-Farisi informed us, Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al-Asbahani informed us, Muhammad bin Sulaiman bin Fares said, Muhammad bin Ismail mentioned it and he mentioned it in the narration of Ibn Uqaymah. He is 'Umamah bin Uqaymah Al-Laithi, and it is also said, 'Ammar.' The Sheikh said, 'And what indicates that it is from the statement of Al-Zuhri.'"  

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةً نَظُنُّ أَنَّهَا الصُّبْحُ فَلَمَّا قَضَاهَا قَالَ هَلْ قَرَأَ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ؟ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ نَعَمْ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي أَقُولُ مَا لِيَ أُنَازَعُ الْقُرْآنَ؟ قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ ثُمَّ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ شَيْئًا لَمْ أَحْفَظْهُ انْتَهَى حِفْظِي إِلَى هَذَا وَقَالَ مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ فَانْتَهَى النَّاسُ عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِيمَا جَهَرَ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ قَالَ لِي سُفْيَانُ يَوْمًا فَنَظَرْتُ فِي شَيْءٍ عِنْدِي فَإِذَا هُوَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ بِلَا شَكٍّ وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ فَانْتَهَى النَّاسُ عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِيمَا جَهَرَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ ابْنُ السَّرْحِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَانْتَهَى النَّاسُ وَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ وَتَكَلَّمَ الزُّهْرِيُّ بِكَلِمَةٍ لَمْ أَسْمَعْهَا فَقَالَ مَعْمَرٌ إِنَّهُ قَالَ فَانْتَهَى النَّاسُ وَقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَرَوَى عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَانْتَهَى حَدِيثُهُ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ مَا لِي أُنَازَعُ الْقُرْآنَ؟ وَرَوَاهُ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ فِيهِ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ فَاتَّعَظَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ بِذَلِكَ فَلَمْ يَكُونُوا يَقْرَءُونَ مَعَهُ فِيمَا يَجْهَرُ بِهِ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ يَحْيَى بْنِ فَارِسٍ يَقُولُ قَوْلُهُ فَانْتَهَى النَّاسُ مِنْ كَلَامِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَكَذَا قَالَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي التَّارِيخِ قَالَ هَذَا الْكَلَامُ مِنْ قَوْلِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفَارِسِيُّ أنبأ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ فَارِسٍ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ فَذَكَرَهُ وَقَالَ فِي ابْنِ أُكَيْمَةَ هُوَ عُمَارَةُ بْنُ أُكَيْمَةَ اللَّيْثِيُّ وَيُقَالُ عَمَّارٌ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَالَّذِي يَدُلُّ عَلَى أَنَّهُ مِنْ قَوْلِ الزُّهْرِيِّ
