[Machine] Al-Awza'i said to al-Thawri, "Why don't you raise your hands during the bowing and raising of it?" Al-Thawri then narrated from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad who narrated from al-Zuhri who narrated from Salim who narrated from his father who narrated from the Prophet ﷺ . Al-Awza'i then said, "I have narrated to you from al-Zuhri who narrated from Salim, and you oppose me with Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, and Yazid is a weak narrator and his narration contradicts the Sunnah." Al-Thawri then frowned at Sufyan al-Thawri, and al-Awza'i said, "It seems like you disapprove of what I said." Al-Thawri replied, "Yes." Al-Awza'i then said, "Come with me to the pulpit so that we may curse and see who among us is upon the truth." Al-Thawri smiled upon seeing that al-Awza'i had become enraged. Abu Abdullah then informed us, and Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ja'far al-Barza'i narrated to us from Bukhara that Abu Mansur Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Hamdawayh al-Ishtikhani narrated to us from Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Sa'id al-Tabari and he mentioned the hadith in the meaning of al-Marwazi's narration.  

البيهقي:٢٥٣٩أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رُمَيْحٍ ثنا أَبُو نَصْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ بِمَرْوَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الطَّبَرِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الشَّاذَكُونِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ يَقُولُ اجْتَمَعَ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ وَالثَّوْرِيُّ بِمِنًى فَقَالَ

الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ لِلثَّوْرِيِّ لِمَ لَا تَرْفَعُ يَدَيْكَ فِي خَفْضِ الرُّكُوعِ وَرَفْعِهِ؟ فَقَالَ الثَّوْرِيُّ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ فَقَالَ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ أَرْوِي لَكَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَتُعَارِضُنِي بِيَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ وَيَزِيدُ رَجُلٌ ضَعِيفُ الْحَدِيثِ وَحَدِيثُهُ مُخَالِفٌ لِلسُّنَّةِ قَالَ فَاحْمَارَّ وَجْهُ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ فَقَالَ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ كَأَنَّكَ كَرِهْتَ مَا قُلْتُ قَالَ الثَّوْرِيُّ نَعَمْ قَالَ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ قُمْ بِنَا إِلَى الْمَقَامِ نَلْتَعِنُ أَيُّنَا عَلَى الْحَقِّ قَالَ فَتَبَسَّمَ الثَّوْرِيُّ لَمَّا رَأَى الْأَوْزَاعِيَّ قَدِ احْتَدَّ 2540 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْبَرْذَعِيُّ بِبُخَارَا أنبأ أَبُو مَنْصُورٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَمْدَوَيْهِ الْأَشْتِيخَنِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الطَّبَرِيُّ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَى رِوَايَةِ الْمَرْوَزِيِّ
