bayhaqi:2538Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥāfiẓ > al-Ḥasan b. Ḥalīm al-Ṣāʾigh Bimarw > Abū al-Muwajjah

[Machine] I prayed in the mosque of Kufa and found Abu Hanifa praying, with Ibn al-Mubarak praying beside him. Abdullah raised his hands every time he bowed and every time he raised his head, while Abu Hanifa did not raise his hands. After they finished praying, Abu Hanifa said to Abdullah, "O Abu Abdur Rahman, I saw you raising your hands too often, did you intend to fly?" Abdullah replied, "O Abu Hanifa, I saw you raising your hands when you started the prayer, did you intend to fly?" Abu Hanifa remained silent. Waki' said, "I have never seen a more eloquent response than Abdullah's to Abu Hanifa."
