[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands when he started the prayer. And when he bowed, Ibrahim said, "I do not see my father except on that one day. He memorized that, and Abdullah did not memorize it from him." Then Ibrahim said, "The raising of the hands at the beginning of the prayer is the wording of the hadith of Jarir. Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq al-Faqih said, "This is a reason that does not match its hearing. Because raising the hands has been confirmed from the Prophet ﷺ , then from the rightly guided caliphs, then from the Companions and the followers. And in the forgetfulness of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, there is no evidence that these companions did not see the Prophet ﷺ raising his hands, as Ibn Mas'ud forgot from the Quran what the Muslims did not disagree about, which are the Mu'awwidhatan. And he forgot what all the scholars agreed to abrogate and abandon in practice. And he forgot the manner of two people standing behind the imam. He also forgot how the Prophet ﷺ prayed the Fajr prayer on the day of sacrifice at its proper time. He forgot how the Prophet ﷺ gathered on the day of Arafah. He forgot what there is no disagreement among the scholars about in terms of placing the elbow and the forearm on the ground in prostration. And he forgot how the Prophet ﷺ recited the verse {And has not created the two sexes} [Al-Lail: 3]. And if it is permissible for Abdullah to forget such things in prayer, then how is it not permissible for him to forget raising the hands?
رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حِينَ يَفْتَتِحُ الصَّلَاةَ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَقَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ مَا أَرَى أَبَاهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَّا ذَاكَ الْيَوْمَ الْوَاحِدَ فَحَفِظَ ذَلِكَ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ لَمْ يَحْفَظْ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ إِنَّمَا رَفْعُ الْيَدَيْنِ عِنْدَ افْتِتَاحِ الصَّلَاةِ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ هَذِهِ عِلَّةٌ لَا تَسْوِي سَمَاعَهَا؛ لِأَنَّ رَفْعَ الْيَدَيْنِ قَدْ صَحَّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ عَنِ الْخُلَفَاءِ الرَّاشِدِينَ ثُمَّ عَنِ الصَّحَابَةِ وَالتَّابِعِينَ وَلَيْسَ فِي نِسْيَانِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَفْعَ الْيَدَيْنِ مَا يُوجِبُ أَنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ الصَّحَابَةَ ؓ لَمْ يَرَوَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ قَدْ نَسِيَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا لَمْ يَخْتَلِفِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ فِيهِ بَعْدُ وَهِيَ الْمُعَوِّذَتَانِ وَنَسِيَ مَا اتَّفَقَ الْعُلَمَاءُ كُلُّهُمْ عَلَى نَسْخِهِ وَتَرْكِهِ مِنَ التَّطْبِيقِ وَنَسِيَ كَيْفِيَّةَ قِيَامِ اثْنَيْنِ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ وَنَسِيَ مَا لَمْ يَخْتَلِفِ الْعُلَمَاءُ فِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فِي وَقْتِهَا وَنَسِيَ كَيْفِيَّةَ جَمْعِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِعَرَفَةَ وَنَسِيَ مَا لَمْ يَخْتَلِفِ الْعُلَمَاءُ فِيهِ مِنْ وَضْعِ الْمِرْفَقِ وَالسَّاعِدِ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ فِي السُّجُودِ وَنَسِيَ كَيْفَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ {وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَى} [الليل 3] وَإِذَا جَازَ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنْ يَنْسَى مِثْلَ هَذَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ خَاصَّةً كَيْفَ لَا يَجُوزُ مِثْلُهُ فِي رَفْعِ الْيَدَيْنِ؟
