[Machine] Bilal used to give the call to prayer when the sun had dipped, meaning it had set. He would not start the prayer until the Prophet ﷺ came out. And when the Prophet came out, Bilal would establish the prayer at the time when he could see him.  

البيهقي:٢٢٧٨أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ أنبأ سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ ثنا زُهَيْرٌ أنبأ سِمَاكٌ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ؓ قَالَ

كَانَ بِلَالٌ يُؤَذِّنُ إِذَا دَحَضَتْ يَعْنِي الشَّمْسُ فَلَا يُقِيمُ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَإِذَا خَرَجَ أَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ حِينَ يَرَاهُ  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ شَبِيبٍ

Bilal summoned to prayer as the sun declined but did not pronounce Iqama till the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and the Iqama was pronounced on seeing him.

[Machine] Bilal used to perform the call to prayer when the sun set, but he would not establish the prayer until he saw the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ . Then, when he saw him, he would proceed to establish the prayer.
