[Machine] Muhammad ibn Abi Adi in this hadith used to say, "The slave cannot free himself nor give a gift except with the permission of his master."  

البيهقي:٢١٧١٨وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ الْمُكَاتَبُ لَا يَعْتِقُ وَلَا يَهَبُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ مَوْلَاهُ قَالَ

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ الْمُكَاتَبُ لَا يَعْتِقُ وَلَا يَهَبُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ مَوْلَاهُ
