[Machine] The testimony of an opponent, a doubtful person, or the testimony of an opponent is valid for those who are engaged in a dispute. The Shaykh said, "And this wording is only narrated in the book that 'Umar wrote to Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari." We have already preceded its chain of narration, and we have also narrated the rejection of the testimony of a doubtful person from two trustworthy narrators from the Prophet ﷺ , and from another chain that is connected, except that there is weakness in it, which is strengthened by the two narrators accompanying it. And Allah knows best.  

البيهقي:٢٠٨٦٦وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنِ اللَّيْثِ عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ وَلِيِّ يَتِيمٍ هَلْ تَجُوزُ شَهَادَتُهُ؟ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ مَضَتِ السُّنَّةُ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ أَنْ لَا

تَجُوزَ شَهَادَةُ خَصْمٍ وَلَا ظَنِينٍ وَلَا شَهَادَةُ خَصْمٍ لِمَنْ يُخَاصِمُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَإِنَّمَا يُرْوَى هَذَا اللَّفْظُ فِي الْقَرَابَةِ فِي الْكِتَابِ الَّذِي كَتَبَهُ عُمَرُ إِلَى أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ؓ وَقَدْ مَضَى بِإِسْنَادِهِ وَرُوِّينَا رَدَّ شَهَادَةَ الظَّنِينِ مُطْلَقًا مِنْ وَجْهَيْنِ مُرْسَلَيْنِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ مَوْصُولًا إِلَّا أَنَّ فِيهِ ضَعْفًا وَهُوَ يُقَوَّى بِالْمُرْسَلَيْنِ مَعَهُ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
