[Machine] Ash-Shafi'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "I saw Mutarraf in Sana'a taking an oath on the Quran." Ash-Shafi'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "There are rulers from the past who used to take oaths on the Quran, and in my opinion, that is commendable."  

البيهقي:٢٠٧٠٤أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمُّ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ مَازِنٍ بِإِسْنَادٍ لَا أَحْفَظُهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ أَمَرَ بِأَنْ يُحْلَفَ عَلَى الْمُصْحَفِ قَالَ

الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ وَرَأَيْتُ مُطَرِّفًا بِصَنْعَاءَ يَحْلِفُ عَلَى الْمُصْحَفِ قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ وَقَدْ كَانَ مِنْ حُكَّامِ الْآفَاقِ مَنْ يَسْتَحْلِفُ عَلَى الْمُصْحَفِ وَذَلِكَ عِنْدِي حَسَنٌ
