[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah in a battle, and he fulfilled his promise to us by camping on a high ground. We were struck by severe cold to the point that when one of us dug a trench and entered into it, covering himself with his shield, the Messenger of Allah saw that among the people and said, "Is there not a man who would protect us tonight and supplicate to Allah for us with a supplication through which Allah would grant us favor?" So a man from the Ansar stood up and said, "I will do it, O Messenger of Allah." The Messenger of Allah made supplication for him and the narrator said, "I thought of saying, 'I will do it,' so that he would make supplication for me with the same supplication that he made for the Ansari, but then I remembered that he had made supplication for him specifically. Then the Messenger of Allah said, 'Hellfire is forbidden to touch three types of people: an eye that weeps out of fear of Allah, an eye that stayed awake guarding in the cause of Allah,' and I forgot the third one." Abu Hurairah said, "It is an eye that looked but restrained itself from looking at what Allah had forbidden."

[Machine] And another person said, meaning other than Zaid, Abu Ali Al-Janaby said, "I heard Abu Raihanah saying, 'We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a battle, and one night we reached a well and decided to stay there. We were struck by intense cold until I saw someone digging a pit in the ground, entering it and covering himself with a shield. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that, he called out to the people, 'Who will guard us tonight, and I will make a supplication for him that will include a great favor?' A man from the Ansar (Helpers) said, 'I will, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him closer and said, 'Who are you?' He replied, 'I am the Ansari.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a supplication for him, and it was longer than the one he made for the Ansari. Abu Raihanah said, 'When I heard the supplication that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made, I said to myself, 'I am another man.' So he called me closer and said, 'Who are you?' I replied, 'I am Abu Raihanah.' So he made a supplication for me, which was different from the one he made for the Ansari.' Then he said, 'Hellfire is forbidden for an eye that shed tears or stayed awake in the way of Allah. And Hellfire is forbidden for another eye, a third that Muhammad bin Samir did not hear.'"

[Machine] From Abu Ali Al-Janbi from Abu Rayhanah who said: "We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on an expedition. We reached a high place, and severe cold overtook us. Each one of us dug a hole, then entered it and covered himself with his own garment. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that from the people, he said: 'Is there not one among you to stand guard for us tonight, invoking Allah for him with a supplication through which he may attain favor?' So a man from the Ansar got up and said: 'I am, O Messenger of Allah.' So he supplicated for him. Abu Rayhanah said: 'I said: 'I am,' so he supplicated for me with a supplication less than the one he supplicated for the Ansari.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The Fire is forbidden for an eye which tears due to fear of Allah, and the Fire is forbidden for an eye which stays awake in the cause of Allah.' Abu Rayhanah said: 'I forgot the third (type).' Abu Shurayh said: 'I heard afterward that he said: 'The Fire is forbidden for an eye which refrains from looking at what Allah has forbidden, or an eye which weeps in the cause of Allah.'"
