[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon and mentioned jihad, and did not give preference to anything over it except what is written. This indicates that it is a communal obligation (fard kifayah), as he gave preference to what is written as it is. And Allah knows best.  

البيهقي:١٧٩٤٤أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ فُورَكٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ الْجِهَادَ فَلَمْ يُفَضِّلْ عَلَيْهِ شَيْئًا إِلَّا الْمَكْتُوبَةَ هَذَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى أَنَّهُ فَرْضٌ عَلَى الْكِفَايَةِ حَيْثُ فَضَّلَ عَلَيْهِ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ بِعَيْنِهَا وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
