[Machine] I heard my aunt say that she had performed Hajj with the Prophet ﷺ. She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, Bilal gives the call to prayer at night, so continue to eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum gives the call to prayer, or rather, until Bilal gives the call to prayer.'" She said, "He would ascend and descend like this, so we would rely on him and would follow his lead, saying, 'As you are until we have our pre-dawn meal.' Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz informed us, 'I am Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq, the jurist.' He said, 'If the narration of Abu Amr and others is correct, then it is acceptable to say that there is a turn between Ibn Umm Maktum and Bilal. So when it was Bilal's turn, he would give the call to prayer at night, and when it was the turn of Ibn Umm Maktum, he would give the call to prayer at night.' This is a valid opinion. However, if it is not valid, then the narration of Ibn Amr ibn Mas'ud, Samurah, and Aisha supports its validity, that indeed Bilal used to give the call to prayer at night." The Shaykh said, "And it has been narrated in the Hadith of Urwah from Aisha about the priority of giving the call to prayer to Ibn Umm Maktum."
