[Machine] A goat from Aslam came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I have committed adultery." The Messenger turned away from it and mentioned the matter. He said, "Take it and stone it." So when it felt the stones, it ran away vigorously. Then a man with a beard of a camel came and struck it and killed it. The Prophet ﷺ mentioned its escape, saying, "Why did you not leave it alone?"  

البيهقي:١٧٠٠٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

جَاءَ مَاعِزٌ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ اذْهَبُوا بِهِ فَارْجُمُوهُ فَلَمَّا وَجَدَ مَسَّ الْحِجَارَةِ فَرَّ يَشْتَدُّ فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ مَعَهُ لَحْيُ بَعِيرٍ فَضَرَبَهُ فَقَتَلَهُ فَذُكِرَ فِرَارُهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَفَلَا تَرَكْتُمُوهُ

[Machine] "A goat from the tribe of Aslam came to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and said, 'I have committed adultery.' The Messenger of Allah turned away from it. Then it came to him from its other side and said, 'I have committed adultery.' Again, he turned away from it. It came to him four times, confessing each time. Finally, the Messenger of Allah ordered that it be stoned. When the stones touched it, it ran away due to the pain. They informed the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) about its escape when the stones hit it. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, 'Why didn't you leave it?'"  

ابن حبّان:٤٤٣٩ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

جَاءَ مَاعِزٌ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي قَدْ زَنَيْتُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ مِنْ شِقِّهِ الْآخَرِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي قَدْ زَنَيْتُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَجَاءَهُ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ أَنْ يُرْجَمَ فَلَمَّا وَجَدَ مَسَّ الْحِجَارَةِ فَرَّ يَشْتَدُّ فَذَكَرُوا فِرَارَهُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ مَسَّتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «فَهَلَّا تَرَكْتُمُوهُ»
