[Machine] "We have pledged allegiance to this man with the pledge of Allah and his Messenger. I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'The treacherous person will have a flag raised for him on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said, 'This is the treachery of so-and-so.' Indeed, one of the greatest forms of treachery is when a person commits the act of shirk (associating partners with Allah), by pledging allegiance to a man based on the pledge of Allah and His Messenger, and then he breaks his allegiance. None of you should take off the clothes of one another, nor should anyone exceed the limits in this matter, resulting in hostility between me and you."  

إِنَّا قَدْ بَايَعْنَا هَذَا الرَّجُلَبِبَيْعِ اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْغَادِرُ يُنْصَبُ لَهُ لِوَاءٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُقَالُ هَذِهِ غَدْرَةُ فُلَانٍ وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ الْغَدْرِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاللهِ تَعَالَى أَنْ يُبَايِعَ الرَّجُلُ رَجُلًا عَلَى بَيْعِ اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ يَنْكُثَ بَيْعَتَهُ فَلَا يَخْلَعَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ يَزِيدَ وَلَا يُسْرِفَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ فِي هَذَا الْأَمْرِ فَيَكُونَ صَيْلَمًا فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ  

[Machine] "After that, we have pledged allegiance to this man in the name of Allah and His Messenger. I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Indeed, the traitor will be given a banner on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said: This is the treachery of so and so. And one of the greatest acts of treachery is for someone to pledge allegiance to a man in the name of Allah and His Messenger, and then break their pledge. None of you should remove his rank nor should any of you seek positions of authority in this matter, for it will only lead to discord between him and me.'"  

أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّا قَدْ بَايَعْنَا هَذَا الرَّجُلَ عَلَى بَيْعِ اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْغَادِرَ يُنْصَبُ لَهُ لِوَاءٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُقَالُ هَذِهِ غَدْرَةُ فُلَانٍ وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ الْغَدْرِ أَنْ لَا يَكُونَ الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاللهِ تَعَالَى أَنْ يُبَايِعَ رَجُلٌ رَجُلًا عَلَى بَيْعِ اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ يَنْكُثَ بَيْعَتَهُ فَلَا يَخْلَعَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ يَزِيدَ وَلَا يُشْرِفَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ فِي هَذَا الْأَمْرِ فَيَكُونَ صَيْلَمٌ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ  

When the people of Medina dethroned Yazid bin Muawiya, Ibn ʿUmar gathered his special friends and children and said, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, 'A flag will be fixed for every betrayer on the Day of Resurrection,' and we have given the oath of allegiance to this person (Yazid) in accordance with the conditions enjoined by Allah and His Apostle and I do not know of anything more faithless than fighting a person who has been given the oath of allegiance in accordance with the conditions enjoined by Allah and His Apostle , and if ever I learn that any person among you has agreed to dethrone Yazid, by giving the oath of allegiance (to somebody else) then there will be separation between him and me." سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يُنْصَبُ لِكُلِّ غَادِرٍ لِوَاءٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ زَادَ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ قَالَ وَإِنَّا قَدْ بَايَعْنَا هَذَا الرَّجُلَ عَلَى بَيْعَةِ اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَإِنِّي لَا أَعْلَمُ غَدْرًا أَعْظَمَ مِنْ أَنْ تُبَايِعَ رَجُلًا عَلَى بَيْعَةِ اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ تَنْصِبَ لَهُ الْقِتَالَ إِنِّي لَا أَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا مِنْكُمْ خَلَعَ وَلَا بَايَعَ فِي هَذَا الْأَمْرِ إِلَّا كَانَتِ الْفَيْصَلَ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ
