[Machine] A man may be a believer while his people are disbelievers, so he does not have to pay blood money (for killing someone from his people). However, he must free a believing slave (as atonement). But if they belong to a people who have a treaty with you, then a ransom is due from him (for killing someone from his people), a believing slave being freed (as well).

[Machine] The man used to come to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and greet him, then he would return to his people who were polytheists. If the Muslims made a mistake in a secret mission or in a battle, the man would set a slave free as an atonement. If the man had a contract with a group between themselves, he would pay the blood money to them and set free the slave who was taken as a captive. (Surah An-Nisa 92) The Prophet ﷺ said: "The man should fulfill his covenant and his people should fulfill theirs, and he should set free the captive slave who has been taken by his people."
