[Machine] The camels were valued at one hundred and twenty dirhams each, weighing six times that amount, which is ten thousand dirhams in total. It was said to Shurayk ibn Abdullah that a Muslim man embraced an enemy man and struck him, hitting a Muslim man in the process. Shurayk said that Ibn Ishaq narrated that a man from our people embraced an enemy man and struck him, hitting a man from our people. His face was injured, his eyebrows, nose, beard, and chest were hit. Uthman ibn Affan ruled that the blood money for this case is twelve thousand dirhams, and at that time, dirhams weighed six times that amount. Al-Shafi'i narrated that Ata', Makhhool, Amr ibn Shuayb, and a number of people from the Hijaz said that Umar ruled that the blood money is twelve thousand dirhams. I do not know of anyone in the Hijaz who disagreed with Umar on this matter, nor with Uthman ibn Affan, and among those who said that the blood money is twelve thousand dirhams are Ibn Abbas, Abu Hurayrah, and Aisha.
