[Machine] Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made a ruling regarding the major blood money and mentioned it, as well as the minor blood money. Then, after the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), camel prices increased and dirhams became less valuable. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) assessed the value of a camel for the major blood money at six thousand dirhams, according to the Uqiyyah measurement, and a half for each camel. Then, camel prices increased even more and dirhams became even less valuable, so Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) increased it to two thousand for each camel. Then, camel prices increased again and dirhams become even less valuable, so Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) established it at twelve thousand dirhams, according to three Awq measurements for each camel. And a third of the blood money is added during the sacred month, and another third for the sacred land. It is said that the blood money of the two holy sanctuaries was completed at twenty thousand. It is also said that it was taken from the people of the desert from their livestock, as they were not required to pay with paper or gold. And from each community, the value of justice was taken from their wealth.  

البيهقي:١٦١٧٢أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ

إِنَّ مِنْ قَضَاءِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى فِي الدِّيَةِ الْكُبْرَى فَذَكَرَهَا وَذَكَرَ الدِّيَةَ الصُّغْرَى ثُمَّ قَالَ ثُمَّ غَلَتِ الْإِبِلُ بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهَانَتِ الدَّرَاهِمُ فَقَوَّمَ عُمَرُ ؓ إِبِلَ الدِّيَةِ سِتَّةَ آلَافِ دِرْهَمٍ حِسَابَ أُوقِيَّةٍ وَنِصْفٍ لِكُلِّ بَعِيرٍ ثُمَّ غَلَتِ الْإِبِلُ وَهَانَتِ الدَّرَاهِمُ فَزَادَ عُمَرُ ؓ أَلْفَيْنِ حِسَابَ أُوقِيَّتَيْنِ لِكُلِّ بَعِيرٍ ثُمَّ غَلَتِ الْإِبِلُ وَهَانَتِ الدَّرَاهِمُ فَأَقَامَهَا عُمَرُ ؓ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ أَلْفَ دِرْهَمٍ حِسَابَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَوَاقٍ بِكُلِّ بَعِيرٍ وَيُزَادُ ثُلُثُ الدِّيَةِ فِي الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ وَثُلُثٌ آخَرُ لِلْبَلَدِ الْحَرَامِ قَالَ فَتَمَّتْ دِيَةُ الْحَرَمَيْنِ عِشْرِينَ أَلْفًا قَالَ وَكَانَ يُقَالُ يُؤْخَذُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ مِنْ مَاشِيَتِهِمْ لَا يُكَلَّفُونَ الْوَرِقَ وَلَا الذَّهَبَ وَيُؤْخَذُ مِنْ كُلِّ قَوْمٍ مِنْ مَالِهِمْ قِيمَةُ الْعِدْلِ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ
