[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about wiping over the socks, so he said for the traveler, three days and their nights, and for the resident, one day and one night. And my father used to take off his socks and wash his feet. And Abu Al-Qasim Abdur-Rahman ibn Ubaidullah Al-Hurfi from Baghdad informed us, narrating from Abu Al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Al-Zubayr Al-Qurashi Al-Kufi, that I am Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Affan, and he mentioned it in a similar way. And this is the narration.  

البيهقي:١٣٠٨أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ فَقَالَ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَكَانَ أَبِي يَنْزِعُ خُفَّيْهِ وَيَغْسِلُ رِجْلَيْهِ 1309 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ الْحُرْفِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ الْقُرَشِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ أنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ فَذَكَرَهُ بِمِثْلِهِ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ  

رَوَاهُ جَمَاعَةٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيِّ عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ أَبِي مَخْلَدٍ وَرَوَاهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ عَنْهُ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ فَإِمَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ غَلَطًا مِنْهُ أَوْ مِنَ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَإِمَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ رَوَاهُ عَلَى الْوَجْهَيْنِ جَمِيعًا وَرِوَايَةُ الْجَمَاعَةِ أَوْلَى أَنْ تَكُونَ مَحْفُوظَةً
