ahmad:8301ʿAbd al-Ṣamad from my father > al-Jurayrī > ʿAbdullāh b. Shaqīq > Aqamt Bi-al-Madīnah Maʿ Abū Hurayrah Sanah

[Machine] I stayed in the city with Abu Huraira for a year. One day, while we were at Aisha's chamber, he said to me, "I have seen us with nothing to wear except worn-out cloths. And sometimes, one of us would go without food for days, to the point that one of us would take a stone and tie it to his belly with a cloth to alleviate his hunger. One day, the Messenger of Allah came to us with dates and each one of us received seven dates that had some residue on them. I was disappointed because I did not have a good date. He asked me why I was disappointed, and I said, 'Why wouldn't I be disappointed?' He replied, 'Give me your dates from your mouth.' Then he asked me, 'Where do you come from?' and I answered, 'I come from Ash-Sham.' He asked me, 'Have you seen the Stone of Musa?' I said, 'What is the Stone of Musa?' He said, 'The Children of Israel said a certain combination of words to Musa and they concealed it under his clothes in the memories of their minds. So, he placed his clothes on a rock while he was bathing, and suddenly, his clothes took off and started running. He followed them while saying, 'O stone! Return my clothes, o stone! Return my clothes!' Until they took him to the Children of Israel, who saw him in a splendid and handsome appearance, and they loved him. They gave him three dates, and by the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Abu Huraira! If I had the chance to watch, I would have seen the dates of Musa in it."
