[Machine] Al-Aqra Ibn Habis asked the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah, is Hajj to be performed once or every year?" He replied, "No, rather it is to be performed once. And whoever performs it more than once, it is considered voluntary."
سَأَلَ الْأَقْرَعُ بْنُ حَابِسٍ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَرَّةً الْحَجُّ أَوْ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ؟ قَالَ لَا بَلْ مَرَّةً فَمَنْ زَادَ فَتَطَوُّعٌ
Ibn Abbas said: Aqra' ibn Habis asked the Prophet ﷺ saying: Messenger of Allah hajj is to be performed annually or only once? He replied: Only once, and if anyone performs it more often, he performs a supererogatory act. Abu Dawud said: The narrator Abu Sinan is Abu Sinan al-Du'wail. The same has been reported by both 'Abd al-Jalil bin Humaid and Sulaiman bin Kathir from al-Zuhri. The narrator 'Uqail reported the name "Sinan".
أَنَّ الأَقْرَعَ بْنَ حَابِسٍ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْحَجُّ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ أَوْ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً قَالَ بَلْ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً فَمَنْ زَادَ فَهُوَ تَطَوُّعٌ
“O Messenger of Allah, is Hajj (required) every year, or just once” He said: “Rather it is just once. And whoever can perform Hajj voluntarily, let him do so.”
أَنَّ الأَقْرَعَ بْنَ حَابِسٍ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْحَجُّ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ أَوْ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً قَالَ بَلْ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً فَمَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ فَتَطَوُّعٌ
[Machine] Al-Aqra bin Habis asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : "Is Hajj to be performed every year?" He replied, "No, rather it is to be performed once a year. Whoever performs it more than that, it is considered voluntary." And in another narration by Ali bin Abi Talib, he explained and clarified the statement of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .
