[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out of the city during Ramadan when he opened Mecca and fasted until he reached Usfan. Then he asked for a cup of water or a container, drank from it, and Ibn Abbas used to say, "Whoever wants to fast, let him fast, and whoever wants to break his fast can do so."  

أحمد:٣١٦٢حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ فِي رَمَضَانَ حِينَ فَتَحَ مَكَّةَ فَصَامَ حَتَّى أَتَى عُسْفَانَ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِعُسٍّ مِنْ شَرَابٍ أَوْ إِنَاءٍ فَشَرِبَ فَكَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ مَنْ شَاءَ صَامَ وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَفْطَرَ

"The Messenger of Allah went out to Makkah, and he fasted until he came to 'Usfan. Then he called for a cup and drank." (One of the narrators) Shubah said: "(That was) in Ramadan. Ibn 'Abbas used to say: 'Whoever wants to fast, may fast, and whoever wants to break may break his fast."'

[Machine] The Messenger of Allahﷺ left the city of Madinah intending to go to Makkah. He fasted until he reached Usfan. Then, he called for a bowl and placed it on his hand until people looked at him. After that, he broke his fast. Ibn Abbas used to say, "Whoever wants to fast may do so, and whoever wants to break their fast may do so."  

أحمد:٢٣٥٠حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
